Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to question if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
